At our Church school, Collective Worship is a special time where we come together to celebrate God’s love and deepen our understanding of the Christian faith. Rooted in our school’s vision of “shining with Jesus,” we encourage all children to develop spiritually and to embody our core values of courage, compassion, and curiosity. Through stories, songs, activities, and prayer, we aim to nurture their spiritual growth and foster a respect for the beliefs of others.
The Christian values we promote during worship—courage to live with integrity, compassion for those around us, and curiosity about the world and faith—are important lessons for all our pupils, regardless of their background. We believe that Collective Worship strengthens the sense of belonging within our school community. While parents have the right to withdraw their children from these services, we encourage full participation to foster unity and shared values.
We are blessed to receive support from our wider church community. Clergy and members such as Steph Johnson, Jordan Lambert, Rev. Margaret Sherwin, and the “Open the Book” team regularly lead our worship, enriching the spiritual life of our school.
There are many opportunities for parents, family and friends to join the school in Collective Worship. These include our special whole school and class led services at school and in Church such as Christmas, Harvest, Mothering Sunday and Easter. We also hold a Carol Service each year where families and staff come together to worship at this special Christian time.
We start our week with Open the Book on Monday mornings, led by the team. It is great to start the week! We have worship in the hall the other days of the week, and finish the week with celebration worship together as a family. Class led Worship and Festivals such as Christmas and Easter etc. take place and dates for these events can be found in the school events calendar and on newsletters.
